tiffy0380's Full Review: Summer Infant Tub Time Floating Tea Party
It's always a challenge to keep my kid busy while in the bath tub and so far we have managed to provide her with toys that stimulate her imagination long enough so we can go through the dreaded chore of hair washing. I picked up the Summer Infant Floating Tea Set while on a random trip to Babies R Us for some other supplies. I paid $9.99 for the set which I thought was a good deal!
Summer Infant says, "Bring tea time to bathtime with Summer Infant's Tub Time Floating Tea Party Set. This adorable pink and green tea set, designed in durable plastic, will make bath time fun and exciting for your child. Fill the teapot with water and serve it in the two tea cups. Add a touch of sweetness with floating sugar cubes from the sugar bowl. Parent and child can enjoy tea for two! No assembly required. Teapot dimensions: 3.75"H x 4.5"D."
The set comes with a teapot with lid, sugar container with lid and sugar cubes inside and two small cups. The set is very small, smaller than I thought it would be but I guess the picture on the website I purchased it on zoomed in! This is a really basic tea set made of plastic and for the tub. I suppose it could also be used as a regular tea set but there aren't many parts to it so it might be as fun as a regular multi piece tea set.
As a bath set my daughter really likes to play with this toy, she loves to pour the water in and out of the tea pot. And really this is all she likes to do with it. The Summer Infant Floating Tea Set may not have flashing lights and crazy sounds, but it encourages her imagination and she will happily play with it in the bath for hours if I let her. There are a few things I look for in a bath toy. I would prefer that it be Phthalate free but Summer Infant does not market this toy as one so that knocks the rating a bit down.
Another thing I look for is the draining method to toys that are submerged in water for a long toy. The Summer Infant Floating Tea Set drains well and quickly. The water can easily be dumped out of the tea pot and the sugar jar drains automatically because it has holes on both sides. This cuts dow on any possibly mold if they are stored damp because the water has no where to hide.
Overall this is a toy that is regularly played with by my daughter and a good toy that is rotated so she doesn't get bored by it.
