Pros: Inexpensive, dependable, and versatile. Well built. Easy to clean and take care of. Looks good.
Cons: Manual poorly organized. Most recipes in my manual don't work.
I've used this bread maker for almost a year with consistently excellent results once a recipe is tested and adjusted. We usually make wheat bread, but have also made delicious white bread, French bread, and banana bread. The machine also makes cake mixes, jam and jelly, sweet breads, and mixes dough for rolls and pastry. During the cycle, the machine beeps at the correct time to add things like nuts and raisins.
The mixing bowl and paddle are coated with thick Teflon. They are easy to use and are easily removed for cleaning. The paddle sometimes is difficult remove from the mixing bowl unless soaked in water for a while. The top is also easy to remove for cleaning.
Controls are clear and easy to use.
The unit looks good on our kitchen counter.
The machine makes a pleasant whirring sound when in use, not too loud.
I believe the new manual is much better than the useless one that came with my machine. If you buy a bread maker with the old, thin manual, know that a new 90 page manual is available online as a .pdf file. You can find it by doing a web search on "Sunbeam 5891 manual".
