| Jakeblack's Full Review: Suncast 30 cu.ft. Garden Shed, Horizontal Gs2000 |
Overview:
This product is designed as quick to assemble storage for a few garbage cans, etc.
It is 55"w x 37"d x 39"h. The unit includes a full floor. The front opens up fully as "dutch doors". The top opens up as a "lid" and has a handy prop built in to prop the lid open. There is also a latch at the bottom of the right hand front door that secures the front doors when closed. There is also a latch for putting a padlock on this unit, that locks both front doors and the lid together, making the shed totally secure. There is a built in support for putting a wood shelf inside the shed if you like.
Positives:
- Very easy to put together. One person can take the straightforward directions and snap this together in about 20 minutes.
- The engineering and fit on this product is very good. The seams line up nicely, the doors swing open smoothly, etc. It looks professional.
- It is made out of heavy duty composite/resin plastic; very resilient, and never needs painting, etc. It is also impervious to dampness/weather/mildew.
- When all closed up, this unit is watertight. I mean, not like you could submerge it, but mine has been through some nasty rain storms, etc, and all inside has stayed bone dry.
- Easy to clean; just wipe with some Fantastic or Formula 409.
Negatives:
- It is a bit pricey; mine was $120 at Home Depot.
- As far as I could tell, it only comes in one color; beige.
Warrantee:
- Full 1 year warrantee for defects in material or workmanship.
Miscellaneous:
- If you buy a padlock for this, make sure you get one with a longer hasp; a regular padlock will be too short to fit through the connector between the doors and the lid (yes this is the voice of experience speaking!).
Bottom Line:
I needed something big enough to protect a portable generator from the elements without having to have it clutter up my garage; this was the perfect solution. Plenty of room to store the generator, some gas, and all the other stuff that goes with it. For practically "instant" storage that is well made, looks professional, and is maintenance free, this is a good deal.
