With all these choices which one do you think I picked? That's right! None of them! I wanted to make a pear-peach jelly and I found a recipe online for it. Most recipes are the same or similar so I adjusted my recipe to match similar ones in the instructions. I didn't want to bother with a water bath processing so I opted for the freezer type jelly.
I used three very sweet and juicy pears, two not so great peaches (I was going to throw them away), fresh lemon juice and sugar.
I was afraid the peaches would ruin the whole batch. The results were beyond my wildest dreams! I could taste the freshness of the pears, I could taste the pieces of the peaches and the end taste was the lemon juice which gave it an added kick. It was so delicious!
I use my jelly for a glaze for chicken or pork, a dipping sauce for spring rolls, on sliced bread, bagels, or rolls, and sometimes just out of the jar when there's just a teaspoon left.
This freezer jelly can be stored in the freezer for up to one year. It will keep in the refrigerator for up to three weeks but I haven't been able to keep a jar for more than three days without finishing it.
Fumaric acid (for tartness)
If you use the No Sugar Needed Recipes your calories per tablespoon for cooked Strawberry jam for example, will be 5 calories compared to Regular Sugar Recipes of 45 calories!
I am waiting to finish all or most of my pear-peach jelly so I can make an orange marmalade. There is no recipe for freezer type orange marmalade but that didn't stop me last time so I will be looking online for a recipe!
My advice is to read the instructions carefully and maybe more than once because they are a bit confusing since there are so many options.
I may never buy store bought jelly or jam again and neither will you!
