Since I have had the ability to go for a short run / jog over the past few weeks I've taken full advantage of hitting up the guys at the local adult bookstore for a coffee afterwards. Well, actually, its half way through the run but it gives me an excuse to check out the stuff they are stocking and suck down some caffeine. Sweet Throat was one of the things I spotted in the plastic totes that they get their merchandise in. Sweet Throat. I started thinking about it and its intended use. Is fresh breath really a requirement for oral sex these days? At $5.99 a pack I wasn't about to satisfy my curiosity but mysteriously one of the packages had a ripped card that couldn't be put on the peg board with other similar items. Freebies rule.

What is Sweet Throat? Have you seen those mouth freshening strips at the checkout counter at the grocery store? This is a more expensive version of the same product. It is designed to heighten oral encounters and the tag line on the front simply reads "For Bone Deep Erotic Encounters". I didn't know that this was targeted towards gay men even though there is a topless guy with his jeans undone on the front and a similar image in back and white on the back. I guess your mind gets stuck on something and overlooks the obvious points of a product.

What's it supposed to do? Well, it isn't marketed as a numbing agent or something that reduces gag reflex. It's something that adds a little bit of tingle to your mouth, freshens up your breath and for the first few minutes of oral pleasure your partner might be able to feel a little bit of extra heat. Essentially it is the same thing as the Eclipse Flash Strips, Listerine PocketPals and Zap Breath Strips. The difference? They are about three times as much and don't have anything on the plastic case that the strips are packaged in. That allows for some discretion but come on, if you are carrying them and you are the one that bought them, you know what they are used for.

The Sweet Throat strips are not as strong as an Altoid so if you have used those for oral encounters and liked the kick that they provide, these strips aren't going to do much for you. For females the feeling is a little more intense as you are dealing with a part of the body that is a tad bit more sensitive to heat. That can be a perk for guys [or girls] that are looking to pleasure a female orally but the sensation doesn't last for more than five or six minutes so it's best to cut to the chase and avoid chit chatting and get down to business before the effects of Sweet Throat wears off. If nothing else, you will have fresh breath.

I can't really recommend these to anyone because they are overpriced and the flavor doesn’t last that long. It is a mild cinnamon taste and when I say mild I mean it isn't something that is going to have you gagging [no pun intended] because it is too strong. If you want to try something a little kinky with your partner you are better off getting Altoids or Sex Rocks to spice things up a little. Sweet Throat is more of a novelty item or something that a newbie might buy thinking that it will give them a reduced gag reflex. It's sole purpose it to freshen your breath and possibly add a little tingle or heat to your lovers erogenous zones.

These were priced at $5.99 for a package of 24 strips. Even if you go to a 7-11 or WaWa you aren't going to pay half of that for a comparable product [breath strip]. Sweet Throat might appeal to some people but this freak gives it two thumbs down. It might make for a funny gag gift [again, no pun intended] or something that you leave in your friends bathroom to completely embarrass them but as far as it giving you a "sweet throat" … well, it doesn't.
