Swingline makes a good product. I have a manual stapler at home and it works terrific. Can I say the same about the electric version we use at work? Read on to find out more.

Features

This stapler can run on electricity or with 6 AA batteries. We use the AC adaptor in the office.

It states that it can staple up to 20 sheets of 20 pound paper.

They, from all the information that I have found, can be purchased in black plastic only.

Staples are very easy to find and are a basic 1/4 inch staple and refills very easily.

This stapler, unlike other electric staplers, does not have an anti-jam mechanism.

You do have an adjustable length, or throat depth, as they call it, allowing you to staple on the very edge of the paper or down the page roughly a couple of inches deep.

Pros

This electric model saves you from having to grip and staple pages together which is very nice. Our department receives many faxes daily, most for other areas, and we have to staple all of the pages and the transaction sheets together to deliver to the other areas safely so as to not lose any pages.

This model can use batteries if you need it to, but with the expense of batteries, it's best to keep it plugged into the ac adaptor.

There is a 2 year limited warranty for this product, in case you do have any issues.

This stapler staples pages nicely and efficiently.

The stapler is very easy to refill, as there is a red button on the back side of the stapler and you push it and the staple tray pops out the front side. It will hold a full row of staples which lasts quite a while.

It's been working well for quite some time and seems to continue on without showing wear and tear.

It has a small size and does not hog up a lot of space on the desk, which is nice, as it seems like there are already too many things on desks these days.

Cons

This stapler is a bit loud, making a clunking chunk when you use it to staple pages together.

My experiences with the 20 page it claims to staple are not so good. We will receive faxes up to 16 - 20 pages some times (possibly more) and the faxes over 15 pages seem to almost jam the stapler. It tugs a little bit after I try to staple the pages together like the staple did not get stamped into the pages like it should have.

Also, it makes the motor on the stapler grind or whine somewhat if you try to staple more than 10 - 15 pages. It's almost like it's stressing the motor trying to staple that many pages at one time.

When it does jam, it normally seems to be when you are nearing the end of the row of staples and it's the last 1 - 2 staples. It does not jam every time, but if it does jam, which has happened a few times, this has always seemed to be the culprit.

It's been easy to pry the jammed staple out, as it's near the front load where the staples in the tray are being pushed out into the paper that is being stapled, making the staple appear wedged in the front chamber. Due to the placement of the jam, it's easy to pry it out with a pen tip or pen cap and a small amount of force.

Overall

I believe that I would recommend this product if you are in the market for an electric stapler. My experiences with it have been good, albeit I don't think it's really able to effectively handle up to 20 pages.

The price is also decent, coming in roughly $25 around my area when I have priced them out. I am sure you could find an excellent sale sometime, and if you do, pick one up, you can always use this!
