mroller's Full Review: Sylvania LC225SL9 22 in. TV
I was looking for a relatively small size flat screen TV for a recreational area of my basement, out of the way when hung over head, and low budget. This fit my budget ($250 – a Black Friday deal) and size (22in diagonal). However, it is not without limitations.
The picture is very good with digital input for the low price, but poorer with analog (RF signal or RCA video). I was disappointed in transition time between channels, and very limited output.
The automatic channel search can take very long - though the screen selection lets you choose an analog search - quicker, or the digital search - which could take an hour. Once configured, the switch between channels is a few seconds – slower than I would expect.
The audio output is only coaxial and only active with digital input – so the manual says. There isn't even a headphone output. This limits the equipment configuration options in audio, particularly an issue due to low wattage speakers.
The lack of video output prevents recording off of RF stations.
I have since looked at other LCD options, and most TVs do come with video or at least audio output. So this is a feature that I rightly expected, but was disappointed.
Though there are limitations on the system configuration with this TV, I may end up keeping as I may ultimately not require the options, and disregarding these limitations, it was a good value.
