Pros: Great HD Picture, The Price
Cons: No paper manual, lousy menu, BAD analog reception, takes too long to turn on!
The Bottom Line: Only buy if price is your main concern for HD LCD TV and only watching High Def (analog receiver bad)and you have a lot of extra time on your hands.

| dlinzo's Full Review: Olevia L 527V 27 in. TV |
Bought this for 82yo mother-in-law for Christmas. They have Comcast cable at the assisted living facility. The first negative I came across was that the ONLY manual was on a CD. I had to go home and get my laptop to set it up. Initial setup was pretty easy for auto-scan of both analog and HD stations. The whole menu system was a little hard to get use to with onscreen wheels that rotate. You have to scroll to see what's available on that wheel (only one item viewable at a time) then arrow over to the next wheel of submenus, then arrow over one to three more times to pick what you want. I found the whole process annoying and time consuming.
The HD pictures were fantastic, everything looked so real! The only problem with the HD is that the channels are like 6.1, 74.8, 109.1, 109.4, 109.10, etc. so for mom to find her Hallmark channel (with the analog signal for her other TV being 18) she has to scroll because even putting in 109 didn't necessarily get her to the channel she wanted. It did help that you can key in an on screen display so I was able to key in (a very tedious and time consuming process, remember the menu) "18Halmrk" so that 109.4 was her Hallmark channel. Notice the 8 character maximum in the name. It took over an hour to set up this info for about a dozen channels and to delete about 30 unwatched channels. Took that long the second time also, when bother-in-law screwed things up some how and I had to do a factory default reset to make it work again. Anyone need a used brother-in-law cheap.
Now to the analog picture. It was so bad it was un-viewable on the channel numbers 30 or less. On there other TV (6yo standard 37inch) in the next room the reception is great. At least all those channels that she watched were also in HD. The channels above 30 were just OK.
The last annoying thing is that when you turn the TV on, it takes about 2 or 3 seconds to come on with a white screen with the name Olevia plastered across it. Then it takes another couple of seconds to go to a black screen, that then you have to put in a channel number or scroll to get a picture in about another second.
I read a review some place that complained about the sound but I thought it was fine.
Don't be in a hurry to do anything with this TV!
This TV is not for the elderly or the non-tech savvy. Father-in-law said "I remember when you could buy a TV, and plug it in, and it just worked right out of the box". Enough said.
