northeastgal's Full Review: Tigi Catwalk Curls Rock Curl Amplifier
Recently I went to my hair salon to get my hair cut and was looking for this specific gel I liked so much but no one else near me sells this product. While she was styling my hair, she gave me many suggestions and appeared to be very helpful and knowledgeable. When I told her the product I liked and have not been fortunate locating it, she took this product and used it on my hair explaining the benefits for using this product. I have wavy hair and don't like to fuss too much styling my hair everyday. I will fuss with it when I'm going somewhere special and want to look my best. I generally use some type of gel to control my hair and style it by scrunching with my fingers. I took her advice and bought it.
I like to try all the hair gels that I can. Mostly in stores I can purchase something for under $5 but when you shop in a Salon, you know a product will be expensive. But since they always make recommendations and many times they will use the product on your hair to test, it's difficult to say, "No thanks." So I'm a sucker for new products. Besides, I don't know what it is, but walking out with an expensive hair product, somehow makes me feel special. When walking into a salon, I am intrigued with all the fancy beauty products and you can't help but check them out while waiting.
Catwalk TIGI - Catwalk products are sold at Hair Salons but some stores are now carrying Professional Salon products. I paid around $13 and it seems to be the same price wherever it's sold online and local stores. If you are interested in the ingredients, I've listed them at the bottom.
Lucky for me, this came in a 4 oz bottle with a free purse size combo. The bright blue tube looks like it holds more than it does. The product is thick white and resembles like hand lotion but when you rub it on your hands, it feels sticky like glue. This requires a good hand washing after using it. When you first use this, you must remove this piece of cotton from the pump which I believe is there so you don't purchase a used product. To use this product, you pump once or twice for longer hair, apply to wet hair and work through with your fingers. This product has a nice smell that others would recognize. If you play around too much you may wind up with stiff curly noodle look. It's best to style your hair when it's almost dry but not while it's wet.
Will I purchase this Curl Amplifier again? I tried to like this product. I gave the smaller purse tube to my daughter and she was happy. She has used this product and loves it. I, on the other hand, did not care for it. It didn't amplify my "waves". It did feel heavy on my hair and was not easy to use for me. Besides, I didn't care for the way my hands felt after applying it. I loved the smell but that's about it. It's too expensive for something I use on a daily basis with results I'm not happy about. When I used this product, I sometimes inadvertently leave small globs here and there and had to be sure I worked it into the hairs even though I was careful using one pump at a time. This never happened with other products I have used.
I thought this product would make my wavy hair look curlier but it didn't. It did not amplify as claimed. It did not add volume as claimed. I can't say this will not work on your hair, but it was not suitable for my hair type. Yes, curls rock if you have curls to begin with. The only positive thing I have about it is the nice fruity smell.
I can't recommend this but my daughter likes this product. It's one of those products you should test someone else's before spending the money for it if your hair is not curly to begin with. Not everyone will have the same results.
