42ENGLISH's Full Review: Tigi Catwalk Curls Rock Shampoo 350ml / 12 oz
Recently, I got bored with my long straight hair and went for a wash and wear perm. I opted for a medium curl, not too tight, so curls would fall loosely. A perm I had about three years ago had been successful and I was confident that this one would be also. Not so, it was a bit more loose than I had asked for and really needed some help in the define and hold area. TIGI Catwalk Curls Rock Curl Amplifier was available at the beauty shop so I indulged in the $13.49 investment and took it on home.
This product comes in an attractive blue and white, 4oz bottle with a pump cap. The product is watery and white and has a fresh, vibrant scent.
TIGIs Claim:
It's gonna rock your curls! This amplifying cream will define and separate curls and waves while adding volume, texture and shine.
Pump 1 or 2 times depending on the length of your hair. Work through wet hair and diffuse for medium hold.
My Experience
The next day I washed my hair with Redkens Fresh Curls and let it dry half way before I applied the TIGI Catwalk Curls Rock Curl Amplifier. It actually came out of the applicator as a liquid, not a foam, even after shaking the bottle for a while. The product felt very sticky on my hand which should have alerted me initially to its probable performance. However, I applied about a quarter-sized amount anyway by running my hands through my hair and massaging the product in. It left my hair feeling as sticky as my hands. I then diffused it slowly and carefully thinking that the finished effect may be different.
Well, I was very disappointed. This product left my hair sticky and stiff. The curls were stuck together rather than separated and defined and my hair was totally untouchable. Needless to say, I washed it out right away and wrote this product off.
Conclusion
Not only is this product expensive, it is below par as an effective product. The only positive comment I have is about the scent which is very fresh and vibrant. Other than that, I thought that TIGI Catwalk Curls Rock Curl Amplifier was a flop. I knew I needed help in the separate and define area and since this product claims that it amplifies curls, I was excited to see the results. However, I found that just washing and drying my hair naturally brought me better results.
