The Bottom Line: I would purchase multiple Trend Enterprise Activity Books for birthdays and other special occasions. I Can Print reinforces letters, which is great for kindergarten preparedness.
For Christmas, "Santa" brought my sons Wipe-Off Activity Books from Trend Enterprises. They were purchased from Target in the kid's book section. Right off the bat you need to be aware that these workbooks do not come with markers. The workbooks costs around $4.40 each and the markers cost around $4. They are just regular dry-erase markers, but they do not have a "scent" like some markers do, so I feel they are more "kid-friendly". But when in a pinch, any marker will do.
Since the pages have a laminated feel to them, they aren't just "paper", if you use a regular washable Crayola on them, the marker will come off, but you have to use a wet cloth instead of a dry one.
The Activity Books are made for pre-k to kindergarten, but my two year old and three year old LOVE THEM. And I can definitely see their fine motor skills improving. My three year old doesn't like coloring, but he will trace the lines for the letters in the I Can Print Activity Book from Trend Enterprises. And my two year old does too! Plus, it complements their understanding of letters. Already both boys know their letters and sounds, but this just furthers their knowledge in that they now can practice tracing the letters.
There are 27 pages. It uses Zaner-Bloser Font. The workbook was created by a teacher. Each page features a letter, a sentence that uses the letter for almost every noun and verb, an opportunity to trace the letter in both capital and lower-case form and then an activity they can take part in.
For example, let's look at the page for the letter A. The boys practice making the letter "A" and the letter "a". I read the sentence to them, "Alvin Alligator adores alphabet soup." They see a picture of an Alligator eating Alphabet Soup with the letter "A" on his spoon. And then the instructions say that your child can add more A's to Alvin's soup.
My son plays with this workbook DAILY. We love it. The only downer is that a 2 year old is AWFUL with markers, so we go through a lot of them. But this is my gift of the year - I plan to give it to every child that is between 2 and 6 years old! And there are a lot more workbooks to choose from!
