There is nothing worse than not having a decent fry pan in the kitchen. I've used T-fal (or Tefal as they are called in the UK) products for some time and had just taken them for granted....that is until I moved away and left behind all my pots and pans. I picked up some cheap non stick pans when I got into my new home..and what a mess!! I hated to cook..and simply refused to cook things that had to be cooked in a fry pan until I came across a great deal on a 2 piece t-fal original fry pan set! 9.99 for an omelette pan and an 11" fry pan.

These two new T-fal frying pans were boasting their new thermospot technology. Thermospot is an orange circle in the middle of the pan with some yellowish decoration and writing in the middle...the point is that when your pan is the right temperature for cooking, the yellow will have turned orange and you won't be able to see the pattern anymore! This is especially helpful for things like shallow frying, where you want the oil and pan to be at the right temp before putting your food in!

What's so great about T-fal??
The best part of the fry pans is the great non-stick surface! I have been able to eliminate the use of oil and butter nearly altogether when pan frying things..obviously some things still taste better with a hint of butter...but I don't have to drown them in it just so that I can get them out of the pan when I'm finished. And even better than that is the fact that when it comes time to wash the dishes...they are so wonderfully easy to clean..just a quick wipe. Even the outsides are easy to clean.

I've had the pans now for about a year and their non stick surface still works just as great as it did when I first bought them! Although should the pans ever seem like they aren't sticking as well, T-fal recommends wiping them down with a bit of oil and then wiping it off. I have not ever needed to do this!

The non-stick surface has a lifetime guarantee and T-Fal says that small scratches in the surface will not diminish the non-stick ability. I don't have any scratches in mine yet, so I can't say if that's true or not!

Another thing I really like about the pans is the fact that they are nice and heavy (but not like a cast iron skillet!) Some cheaper non-stick pans just feel so light and flimsy, but not the T-fal! They definitely have the feel of quality cookware. I've never had one warp and I am always cooking on high heat!


My final analysis
I love these pans! I don't really rely on the Thermospot much though. I don't do much frying so I really don't need it, not to mention I'm not a professional cook, so I'm not all that precise with things! However, It does seem to work, The spot goes totally red when the pan is hot enough.

I've had other good non-stick pans such as Farberware, but I have to say that I like these T-fals even better! And at 9.99 for the set, you sure can't beat the price!!! You can't even get 2 cheapie pans at K-mart for that price!

T-fal has made it a pleasure to cook again!
