| darinerin's Full Review: T-Fal Ingenio Cookware Sets |
I got my Ingenio set for Christmas last year although I have only been able to use them for 2 months because of living arrangements.
When I finally unpacked them from the moving truck I couldn't wait to use my Ingenio pots and pans. I live in a small apartment and storage is a big issue. I have absolutely minute amounts of it! The Ingenio pots and pans stack without the handles in a small area (only as wide as the largest pan). My set came with 5 pots and pans, 2 cooking lids, 2 handles, and 5 plastic lids for storage.
I have a couple complaints but keep in mind my complaints are far outweighed by my praise. I don't use the storage lids very often (if ever) because when you cook something in a pot, most of it gets eaten before you put it away in the fridge and it doesn't make sense to have a big pot in your fridge if you only have a small dish of food left.
Also, sometimes I'm cooking up a storm and have 3 pots on the stove. I'd like to have an extra handle for those instances but for regular use 2 is fine. And I'm sure (for a price) you could buy another handle from the company.
Finally (as shortcomings go), You can't flip an omelete or anything like that because the pans have straight sides as opposed to slanted ones. I didn't realize that until I tried to make an omelete and it turned out looking like scrambled eggs.
Despite these shortcomings Ingenio is genius as the name suggests. The nonstick surface is T-Fal's signature. It's great. Period. My mom and grandmom have used it for years and they wouldn't have bought it for me for christmas if they didn't think it was good.
The handles just clip on, they're a little tough when you first get them but after a while they loosen up and are very easy to put on and take off. This makes it a bit easier to wash the pots by hand because you can turn the pot and not poke yourself with the handle.
I don't use cooking covers very often either but the times that I have used them they worked fine. I honestly wouldn't recommend them for draining anything (pasta etc.) The lid has a way of getting away from you and your pasta gets dumped in the sink (yes, yes, personal experience).
I'm not sure how much my set cost because I didn't purchase it but if it isn't much more than the regular t-fal set I would recommend it.
