Pros: Great location with entrances on two major NYC streets
Cons: The kitchen and service was not up to snuff.
The Bottom Line: New York City has many different options for food. Many are better and less expensive than TGIs. Go elsewhere.

| popsrocks's Full Review: T.G.I. Friday's |
I've been to TGI Fridays a number of times. There is one that is just a couple of miles from where I live. It is also a place that some guests of ours from France wanted to go, so as to experience American cuisine.
There are a number of TGI Fridays in Manhattan. I want to make it clear that I am now updating to give information about this particular TGI Friday's at 47 Broadway where I have dined a few times.
47 Broadway, Wall Street Area
This restaurant is in the heart of the Wall Street District in lower Manhattan. It is well located and just a ten minute or less walk from The World Trade Center Site, Wall Street, Battery Park, The Jewish Museum, and the most of the tip of Manhattan's site seeing musts.
As you enter on Broadway, don't be put off by the long hall and then the flight of stairs going into the basement. At first I thought it strange but after further investigation I realized that the other far end of the restaurant goes through to the opposite street. You actually are at street level on Trinity Place. The address however is on Broadway. The Broadway entrance would and does attract more of the Wall Street crowds.
I liked that this restaurant is a bit quieter than others in Manhattan. It was mostly a business crowd and very few tourists. This restaurant, like all the TGIs I know, has the red and white striped table cloths and a mix of trumpets, old vendor signs, bed railings, and just about anything else that can be bolted to a wall. This place had a tin ceiling, tile entrance and a dirty carpet in the rest of the establishment.
There was a raised section at level with the bar and a number of tables set lower. Brass railing line the place. they were full of fingerprints and looked like they haven't wiped them down in a long time. The wooden tables had padded wooden chairs with them. On the tables are salt pepper ketchup and sweeteners. Paper napkins are used. I like the heavy table ware they give.
Very screechy rock music was played over the PA system. I either need to hear the music loud enough so I can get in tune with it or not have it on at all. When its an annoying background sound, then I am not a happy man.
FOR The LOCAL CROWD
This TGIs does seem to cater to the local business people more than to tourists. They have a 4-7PM Happy Hour to bring in after hours crowds and offer free eats with the drinks. They still offer the same basic menu but they have enhanced it with an $8.95 Lunch Special that I ordered and realized was NOT that special at all.
My EXPERIENCE
I walked down the stairs and a waiter blew by me. A moment later another did the same. This is a long dining room and the kitchen is on one far end of the place near the Broadway entrance area. Three more waiters went by when one did make eye contact and asked if I was being taken care of. He said to follow him. It's then I noticed a station more toward the middle of the place near the bar. that's where my greeter seater was stationed. It was weird that she seemed disturbed by the waiter finding a place for me to sit down. It didn't last long. She went right back to the station and started talking to anyone who walked by.
I finally did get to order. The menu is pretty much the same as I have listed later in this review. The waitress was not friendly. She just took the order and didn't go out of her way to make me feel comfortable. I asked for the Lunch Special that gives any two of, Half a Friday Club Sandwich, a bowl of either Broccoli or Onion soup, they were out of the days special, and either a House or Caesar Salad. I ordered the Half Club and Broccoli Soup and then I waited....and waited. I don't know what took so long but I had ordered a soda, free refills, twice in the time it took for the food to come out.
The club sandwich had very little meat on it. The little there was was piled to the middle making the crust ends extremely dry and lacking of any flavor. The soup was good. It was hot and tasty. It came with two saltines.
The bottomless soda was $3.50. I was surprised at the bill when I wound up paying over $15 for a sub-par lunch. For more information about what TGI Fridays offers keep reading. I just don't recommend any of the Broadway NYC restaurants. They do have a good selection of Domestic and Imported beers if you are just stopping by for a quick one. Their specialty drinks are good too, though expensive. The bar is a nice looking place and the tender seemed attentive and friendly.
Just a note. The restrooms at the 47 Broadway place were clean and well stocked. I had to go down a second flight of stairs to get to them.
