T-Mobile Dash Smartphone

Pros:Beautiful screen, small, light and quite useable
Cons:volume control, dialing interface, trade-off's using as a cell phone, proprietary earphone jack.
The Bottom Line: As fast as new models come out, wait for the "next generation". But for the price, it packs alot of technology and for most users, a significant step up.
This is the first Smartphone that I've purchased. Having used both a cell phone and a separate Pocket PC, I had been holding out until several generations of Smart Phones had worked out the kinks.
First, some positives. I like it's size, weight and overall functionality (90%). I don't have the context of using a Blackberry but overall, it works well. I really like the ease of syncing w/ MS Outlook, that's a life saver. All you do is plug in the USB cable and it will automatically start syncing with your Contacts, etc. It also syncs easily with both my work PC and my home PC keeping all the changes seamlessly up-to-date.
Overall, the technology of combining a cell phone w/ pda features has dramatically moved forward, but it's still not there yet. If you're primarily a cell phone user, it's still not a great device. For example, dialing a cell phone number can be a bit agonizing, especially when you're on the go. (aka driving...okay I know that's not always kosher, but it's the real world these days, the dialing button are just too small to punch easily)
Unlike other reviews, I've not had to "reset" it due to glitches, but that doesn't mean it's glitch-free. The volume control, as other reviews will say is frustrating and difficult to use. Unbelieveable that they couldn't get that straight.
I paid $150 but I also get a $50 rebate, which makes this device $100 plus tax. For the technology you're getting at this price point, it's quite impressive.
Bottom line, I would wait another generation or two, if you're still on the fence. A "generation" in this space is about 8-10 weeks.
