I would consider myself a sleek and original person, and I love the newest technology and electronics. That would help explain one of the reasons why I went out and purchased the Sidekick 3.
I would say I was familiar with the previous Sidekick and Sidekick 2 phones from advertisements (which Snoop Dogg was the spokesman) and friends. Out of nowhere, I heard that T-Mobile (the only company that sales the Sidekick) was coming out with a new one. There was a sudden buzz about this new and improved Sidekick. At this time I had not yet seen the phone, so I did not know what the big deal was. It was not until my friend purchased the phone, and came over one day and showed me what everyone was talking about. From then on I was hooked. So I went to the T-Mobile store and purchased the Sidekick, and at the time I had the new Blackberry, but the features could not compare to the Sidekick 3. Before I purchased the phone I looked at the brochure, and the features included the 1.3 mega pixel camera, MP3 player, and AOL Instant Messenger. Then there’s an optional service called “sidekick unlimited” which gives you unlimited e-mail, AOL IM, Web, and text messaging which I think is the best feature of all. Plus I love the way the screen flips up, and its unique design.
I always believed that you get what you pay for, and it pertains to the Sidekick 3. It may be $300, but it’s worth it. I never saw myself going out and paying more than $150 for a phone, but this was before I fell for the sidekick 3. With the phone being priced high, I would expect it to be durable, have long lasting battery, great features, and perfect service. I can speak for myself when I say this is a durable phone because I tend to drop it at least once a day and have no problems. In other cases my friends have had their insurance replace their phones at least once or twice due to dropping them, and the screens have gone out. Now the battery is great because I have went 24 hours without charging it and I still had a bar left. Then there are the features (one of the main reasons why I purchased the phone) that uphold my expectations. Now the service; I would have to say T-Mobile does not have the greatest service because I do not get signal in a lot of the school buildings. Then on the other hand if you want a great plan and sleek phone T-Mobile would be good for you.
Do you know how most items you purchase usually have at least one thing you hate about it? Sorry, but this goes for the sidekick too because I hate how screen is connected to the phone when it flips up; the connection feels flimsy and one wrong move the screen will snap off. Then I think there are a few things that could, and should, be improved upon. For example the durability of the screen because they have to be replaced too often. Plus the speaker on the phone is terrible because you cannot always hear your phone ringing. When you are on speaker phone you should be able to drive and talk without the phone up to your ear. Not in this case because you can not hear the person you’re talking to or they can not hear you. So if you purchase this phone I would suggest getting a Bluetooth headset because it will help prevent you from accidents on the road, and dropping your phone. I would prefer to take the speaker from a Nextel phone and place it in the Sidekick 3 because when you place it on speaker phone the person in the next room can hear your conversation. Even though the Sidekick 3 needs to be improved upon and the price is high, I have and will recommend it to any one out there that likes electronics, and wants a phone with great features.
