Lots of Cooking Room -- Using the T-Fal Giant Fry Pan!

I saw this T-Fal Giant Fry Pan and had to buy it. I have another frying pan with the double handles, and use it all the time. For those large friend and family gatherings, this pan was another good kitchen addition.
Description
This big non-stick fry pan measures 13 1/4" in diameter with deep sides. The pan has two handles. One is a long handle that measures about 7 3/4" long. It has a metal shaft with a black plastic outer piece for cool-touch handling. The second handle is curved and about 3 1/2" wide. This "helper handle" is oven save to 350-degrees F. It is also metal with a wide plastic cool-touch covering. The T-Fal Giant Fry Pan is non-stick both inside and outside.
Mine came with a clear glass lid. The top of the clear glass lid has a round knob for easy grasping. The knob is composed of the same black cool-touch material as the handles. There is a small hole in the lid (edged with metal) to vent steam.
The pan has what T-Fal calls a Thermo-Spot. It is a heat indicator to show when the pan is preheated. When the design changes to a solid red "spot", the pan is preheated and ready for cooking.
This pan is meant for use on these heat sources: gas, coil/solid electric, ceramic, halogen. However, it is not meant for induction cooking.
T-Fal recommends washing the pan in warm soapy water and drying it with a soft cloth before using it. They also suggest seasoning the pan by heating it on low for 30 seconds and then removing the pan from the heat. Then rub a tablespoon of vegetable oil against the non-stick interior with a paper towel.
This Giant Fry Pan can be placed in a dishwasher. However, after the packaging makes that statement, the fine print says that hand washing is recommended.
My Experiences
Our family loves this pan. We enjoy T-Fal cookware and have many pieces of it. The cookware does well by us, and we keep buying it. This pan was a wonderful purchase.
One of my favorite features is the double handle. This Giant Fry Pan holds a lot, and having those two handles makes the pan easy to carry from countertop, to stove, to table. The handles stay cool and are comfortable.
I also like the glass lid. It's great having a lid that is see-through. Some of my other frying pans have metal lids, and I miss it when I can't see how the pan's contents are cooking. T-Fal also placed a small vent hole in the glass lid. It's well made too.
The deep sides of this pan make it a dream for cooking large batches of gravy or sauce. Chicken dinners, pot roast, pasta dishes, the contents for a casserole dish ... all cook well in this pan. Since this pan is large, I don't use it for simple frying such as a few burgers or eggs. This is what we term the "family frying pan". When guests come to dinner, this is the pan I use to produce a meal with volume.
T-Fal built this pan with what they call a "Durabase". This base promotes even heating, and the Thermo-Spot lets you know when the pan is pre-heated. We have never had a problem with how this pan cooks.
Despite the packaging that says the pan could be placed in a dishwasher, I have never done so. This T-Fal pan easily cleans with a swipe of a sponge and my favorite Dawn dishwashing soap. The non-stick interior and exterior work great at repelling sticky messes. After about a year of use, this pan still looks almost new.
The only downside to this pan is its size. From handle tip to handle edge, it measures about 23". It will require dedicated storage space. I have cabinets that do not reach all the way to the ceiling and store my cookware atop them.

Summary
The T-Fal Giant Fry Pan is an excellent addition to my T-Fal cookware collection. I love the double stay-cool handles and the non-stick interior and exterior of this cookware. It's a keeper!
