It's fast food. Chinese dishes, or Japanese sushi rolls. You can be in and out in minutes, even if you choose to eat in the restaurant. The food taste good on either side - Chinese OR Japanese. You check out as you order on the sushi side, and after you select your food (cafeteria style) on the Chinese side. The cashiers are "officious," which I guess some see as rude.
But the atmosphere is decent, the service is adequate, and the food is good. If you order sushi, a waiter or waitress will bring your order within minutes to the table. Chinese food comes to the table with you right from the line on your tray. Serving and busing staff take care of cleaning up the table. Tipping is at the discretion of the diner, but I'd recommend it.
The room is bright and clean. Self seating at tables is the name of the game. It isn't top draw atmosphere, but then, you're not paying for top notch atmosphere, either.
They have a good lunch special, and the rolls are really good. I'd recommend the shrimp tempura and the eel rolls in particular. But I've had a number of items from each line, and all of it has been good.
It's not the best food in the city. But you can bypass the time necessary to be seated, order from a menu, and wait for table service. There is a self serve hot tea urn, or you can order a beverage which you serve yourself from a dispenser.
Although the restaurant does get crowded, I have never been there when there was not a table opening up, even when the place looked pretty packed. The turnover is pretty fast, on the whole.
For a quick lunch on the Rockville Pike, you won't be disappointed.
