| ritag11's Full Review: Take-Along Blocktivity Center Activity Toy |
The Fisher Price Take Along Blocktivity Center has accompanied my daughter on many vacations and weekend trips. She received this as a Christmas gift in 1999, and it still gets frequent play and has endured long hours of toddler interaction.
The toy itself comes in a hard plastic purple box that snaps closed easily. It does take some extra tug to open it, but that is not a problem, who wants it to pop open in the middle of a travel, not me!!! The box is about 9 inches long and 8 inches wide, with a depth of about 3 inches, it has a slight curve in the middle and the outside is textured to look like Pooh's tree house.
The Take Along Blocktivity Center is many toys in one self storing box. When you open the box, the lid becomes a magnet surface with Pooh's tree house pictured. The box has 9 blocks, each is a 2 1/4 inch cube. The cubes have 5 play surfaces: a magnet, a numeral, the same # of objects in picture form, a picture of the magnet in the box, and a small portion of a puzzle.
The magnets are: Pooh, Eeyore, Tigger, apple, butterfly, carrots, flower, bee, and bell. The numerals and matching objects are from 1 to 9. Each of these the numeral and the picture objects are a bit raised and can be felt, not just looked at. They are 1 star, 2 butterflies, 3 bees, 4 bells,5 apples, 6 honey pots, 7 flowers, 8 clouds, and 9 carrots. The puzzle is Pooh's tree house with Pooh, Tigger, Piglet, Eeyore, and Rabbit pictured.
The pieces are all washable (with soap and warm water). It is very durable. I am more than impressed with it after almost 3 years of use.
This toy will provide hours of fun and interaction for different ages. When my daughter first received this toy, she was almost 2, and basically took the cubes out and stacked them. Now, she is almost 4, she makes up her own stories with the magnets and is into counting the numbers. She hasn't shown much interest in the puzzle yet.

I have searched their site and I was unable to locate this item in their on line catalog. I have seen it as recently as summer 2001 at KB Toys. If you can find it, I recommend it for kids 2 and up. The magnets are small enough to choke a baby. A great Winnie the Pooh toy!
UPDATE: My son, now 20 months, has played with this toy a lot recently (almost daily for 6 weeks). He cannot open it without assistance, but has really enjoyed the magnets and blocks. So after almost 3 years, I can still say I enjoy the Pooh Blocktivity Center!!!
