Pros: Slender design for easy and comfortable insertion and removal.
Cons: May not be as commonly found as other tampons.
Alright ladies, it is time for another tampon review. Gentlemen, if you are reading this, well then I am sure you have your reasons. Perhaps you are reading this to try and learn more about the world of feminine protection so that when your wife or girlfriend sends you out for necessities, you have a better understanding of this category.
For me, tampons are essential but when it is the wrong kind, it makes Aunt Flo's visit that much more unpleasant. When Walgreens had Tampax Slender Regular tampons on sale for half price, I knew it was the perfect time to stock up even though I'd never tried the "slender" ones before.
What it is
Tampax is my preferred tampon brand to begin with, though this Slender kind was new to me. I don't recall even seeing it at Walmart, which is where most of my feminine care needs come from. These come in a blue box of 40 tampons with a little window in the lower right-hand corner so you can see the individually wrapped tampons inside. The wrappers are pink and white, and they all feature a line with an arrow indicating which end should be opened. I kind of like that, I know it isn't hard to determine which end is the tip and which end is the applicator, but still, when it is 3:00 AM and it is time for a change, that little line and arrow is welcomed versus sleepily and annoyingly fumbling around to feel the ends. Just a quick glance is all you need and you're on your way. Anything that makes that time just a little better makes a difference to me.
Tampax tampons use cardboard applicators, which is one reason I choose these over plastic applicator brands. I agree that the plastic feels better, but those are usually more expensive and wasteful. The cardboard used in Tampax is smooth, and the tip of the tampon is rounded, so it is still designed for the body. These can also be flushed, though I do not because we have a septic system and do not put anything in there that we don't have to. I do flush them if I use a public restroom, and no issues that I've ever noted.
Opening the wrapper is always simple, and it always seems to tear evenly down, revealing the tampon nestled neatly inside, ready for use.
What I really like about these Slender Regular tampons is that they are indeed smaller than the regular Regulars. That would make them perfect for young girls just starting out in the realm of periods. My bleeding can go from light to gushing in a matter of moments, so it is always important for me to have a wide variety of products to meet the ever changing needs. If I am not bleeding too heavily, sometimes inserting a regular tampon is uncomfortable, but the Slender Regular tampons go in so much better. They never tug or cause discomfort, even when bleeding is slight. They glide in with ease, which is much better that way. The applicator's plunger works flawlessly and smoothly as well.
Like other Tampax tampons I use, the Slender Regulars stay in place fine and dandy. If I am wearing one of these, it means the bleeding wasn't very heavy at the time, so leaking isn't too much of an issue. They have a "Unique LeakGuard Skirt" so says Tampax, that is said to prevent leaks by having the end closest to the outside sort of "skirt" out. I don't really see much of that happening when I glance at it, but they don't cause me to leak so I guess they work (for light flows anyway). They are very comfortable, and cannot be felt inside. I'll leave one of these in for 8 or so hours on a light day and no issues whatsoever.
Removal of Tampax Slender Regular tampons is as easy as insertion. Even if I didn't bleed much, it will pull out without pain or tugging.
Tampax Slender Regular tampons are perfect for my most unpredictable days. At the beginning or end stages, when there is a flow but it is slight, these don't cause pain or discomfort while inserting or removing, but still provide excellent protection even if the bleeding would suddenly take off. I was thrilled to have found them for so cheap, but once my two boxes I purchased are gone, I may have trouble finding them again.
