I recently decided to re-landscape my entire back yard. One of my "must haves" for my project was a water feature. I have children and pets so it was crucial that the water feature be safe as well as visually appealing.
I live in Colorado and I wanted to keep the theme of the yard “Colorado natural” with native plants, rocks, and other natural materials. I didn’t want a whimsical fountain or something that came from an injectable mold.
While meandering through the local garden center I came across the perfect water feature for my needs. The Tan Sandstone Flag Stack was exactly what I was looking for.
Everything you need for this soothing fountain comes in the kit, with the exception of the additional rock or substrate you wish to use around the fountain. The kit is heavy (55 lbs) so be careful when you pick it up. The kit consists of a 5 gallon bucket, a submersible pump, a long flexible tube, a liner, predrilled sandstones, and a lid.
Installation of the Tan Sandstone Flag Stack is extremely simple. You dig a hole that is a bit larger than the bucket. Place the bucket in the hole. Connect the long flexible tube to the submersible pump and place the pump in the bottom of the bucket. Place the liner over the mouth of the bucket and thread the flexible tube and the power cord through the 2 holes in the liner. Thread the cord and flexible hose through the 2 holes in the lid and snap the lid onto the top of the bucket. Thread the flexible hose through the predrilled sandstones. Fill the bucket with water. Add whatever substrate you want around the fountain and plug in the pump.
The result is a beautiful and soothing fountain that compliments any landscape. Because the reservoir is the 5 gallon bucket with a lid, there is very little risk to children or animals. The Tan Sandstone Flag Stack is compact so it is perfect for smaller spaces.
