Pros: High current, good power, looks great, digital
Cons: Not the best remote control.
The Bottom Line: The power of this receiver is under-rated, has great sound, very clean looks, and best bang for the buck.

| dabrosch's Full Review: Tangent AVR-100 - Silver Receiver |
The receiver offered the most band for the buck, with out the extraneous bells and whistles. It has a great sleek design, and the 40watts by 5 channels output is with a high current, and the end result is a surprising ability to actually get nice and loud.
The AVR100 has only a subwoofer pre-out, but I really do not forsee a need for other pre-outs with this receiver.
The remote control is somewhat confusing, and it's CD player controlling features only work with Harmon/Kardon CD players. It does work well with my big old Sharp TV, and brand new RCA VCR.
But overall it is easy to operate.
There are only 2 DSP modes, which is not a big deal, because you don't really need many more than that (or use them much), and the Pro-Logic time delay for the rear speakers is customizable too.
It lacks DTS decoding, which has yet to be used on much more than few DVD's yet.
The owners manual is quite good too, definitely easy to read.
The front panel is plastic! That is where I knocked off a point for durability, but if you wont be moving it around a whole lot I guess it is no big deal. I noticed most other receivers actually are plastic in the front as well. Of course the rest of it is metal, fine for stacking items on it... just make sure it has ventilation because it can get pretty warm.
I purchased mine refurbished from an online company auciton.
