Bethesda is full of restaurants but put the rest aside and dine one night at Tara Thai. You will be hooked.
The atmosphere is a good as the food. Set in an underwater scene with painted blue ocean walls and tropical fish, Tara Thai is a great place to eat for nay occasion. The plates and sups are great...individually decorated in bright yellows and blues. Each piece is unique. The Bethesda restaurant is a bit crowded due to the small dining area. Other locations, such as Rockville, offer more space.
To help you sift through the menu I will offer my suggestions to a perfect meal. For appetizers: spring rolls (crispy delicious, ask for extra sauce!), shrimp cakes (breaded shrimp, good sauce also) main courses: ***deep sea*** (mussels, scallops, spicy! and soo good!!), phad thai (while not as good as I've had (such as Benjarong) it is very tasty) Feel free to go off on your own dishes too!
As you may know, a wait for a restaurant in Bethesda on a weekend night is inevitable. However, the weekdays are not as crowded. Reservations are taken at the Rockville location but not the Bethesda one. So come early and be ready to take up time with conversation...it's worth the wait!
