Tarot Plain & Simple is one of the best books on Tarot I have read. Mr. Louis uses the Robin Wood Tarot for the illustrations, but the book can be used with any deck. I found the choice of decks refreshing, because of the overuse of the Rider-Waite deck in Tarot instruction.
The beginning of “Tarot Plain & Simple” explains how the author began his Tarot study. He gives a good technique for incorporating Tarot study in your everyday life. The advice is to draw a card in the morning, then at the end of the day, use a journal to examine how the events match the card.
This book is well organized, and gives a well-rounded introduction to the art of Tarot reading. One of the most impressive aspects of organization is the presentation of the Court cards. They are broken into three areas in both the upright and reversed positions. Since the Courts can show the querent's personality, a situation, or another person, suggested interpretations are divided into these categories. The keywords assigned to the cards are modern, and easy to relate to today’s people and situations.
Overall, this is an excellent text for the beginning reader or the long-term Tarot student.
