As with my other reviews on golf clubs, I tested all the top fairway woods before deciding on Taylor Made. Here are the reasons I chose the Taylor Made clubs woods:
Distance - There was no real advantage for any company in this category. I think that the Taylor Made, Calloway, Titleist, and Ping all went about the same distance.
Weight - The Taylor Made was definitely one of the lightest clubs, which is what I preferred. The Titleist was by far the heaviest and is the main reason I chose Taylor Made over Titleist. If you prefer a heavier club I would recommend trying out the titleist woods.
Trajectory - For the most part the trajectory of the shot is controlled by the degree of the club and your swing. However, I found that the Taylor Made woods had a slightly higher trajectory than most of the other clubs.
Shot type - By this I mean whether the club has a tendency to increase or decrease your shot type (Fade/Draw)I found that some clubs increased distance but gave a more inconsistent shot. For me, the Taylor Made woods gave me the distance I wanted, but kept my shot type straighter and in control.
Feel - With all the clubs being so competitive and consistent, sometimes this is really the only thing that separates them. This was the category that really made me decide to go with Taylor Made. It made me feel confident when I set up to hit the ball. It was light and well weighted.
Price - The Taylor Made clubs are expensive. However, if you compare it with the Calloway and Titleist woods, you'll find that it not overpriced. I think you get what you pay for here. So I think it's fairly priced.
So overall, I feel that they're the best woods on the market. If your shopping for new woods they should be the first thing you try out. The Calloway, Titleist Ping, and Cobra woods are also really nice. Have a nice day.
