A great club for a great swing

Written: Jan 11 '02 (Updated Jan 11 '02)
Pros:Great Feel, Classic Look, easy to play.
Cons:Don't expect these clubs to correct swing flaws.
The Bottom Line: The perfect iron for players with great swings.

I got a set of these irons as a Christmas gift to replace my 10 year old TNT irons. I had tried Taylor Made Irons before and found them to be great clubs. I had not previously hit the 320 series yet.

These clubs were bought used (they had been rentals) but were still in excellent shape. They came with the steel S-90 rifle shafts.

At first blush, these clubs looked great. They have classic lines and minimal offset. I was very pleased with the appearance of these irons.

At the range, these clubs performed better than any I had previously played. I had not been playing for a couple months because of the cold weather and a move to a new city. I found a range with heated enclosures and brought some of these irons with me.

Performance wise, there is nothing more I could ask for in an iron. It felt good in my hands and promoted a natural setup. I find that oversize heads and heavy offsets can necessitate a major change in the setup of a club. The 320 series are neither of these. Through the swing, these clubs felt light and comfortable, resulting in well placed shots at all ranges.

There is one caveat with these irons. The 320 series is designed for professional players and low handicappers. They have minimal offset, which means if you slice, these clubs will do little to correct your swing. Additionally, the stiff rifle shafts are designed for higher swing speeds; players with slower swing speeds will not get the feedback from these clubs that they might normally expect from more flexible shafts.

Overall, these are the best clubs I have played. I can't wait to get them onto the golf course.
