I'm a tea kinda person. I have never understood how anyone could chose coffee over tea, but I'm sure some people can't understand why I love tea so much.
I have at least 8 teapots (probably more, but I'm too lazy to count) and a bunch of infusers because I take my tea seriously. I am very willing to go to the trouble of making loose tea because that is how you usually get the best tea. Fortunately, Taylors Yorkshire Gold Tea is fabulous even when prepared in the tea bag form.
First, let me warn you that Taylors makes both Yorkshire and Yorkshire Gold tea. Both are very good, but Yorkshire Gold is superior by far. The liquor is very bold, yet complex and smooth. This is a black tea and I would highly recommend it for the morning, yet while it is strong enough for morning, I enjoy it immensely in the afternoon (I would not recommend it for the evening because it is strong and fully caffeinated).
This is not like Lipton Tea. Aside from being much more flavorful, the bags don't have strings and hang tags. The directions say to steep in fresh boiling water for 3-5 minutes. I like my tea dark, but I think this is fine after 3 minutes of steeping. On the other hand, I have been known to forget the tea and over steep by quite a few minutes. Here is a testament to how smooth this tea is, after steeping for 15 minutes, it is very strong, but still drinkable! Yum!
I like my tea with milk (or even half and half, which makes it more like a dessert) and sweetener. There are very few teas that I like without milk and Taylors Yorkshire Gold is not one of them. My husband drinks it without milk, though and says he enjoys it. Please do not insult tea by using skim milk! If you don't at least have 1% milk fat in your tea, then drink it black for goodness sake!
This tea is substantially more expensive than Lipton or most other common supermarket teas, but it is well worth the expense. Go ahead, splurge! You only live once and this is a worthwhile indulgence.
