Pros: Authentic and filling food, good prices, English Charm, prompt and free delivery
Cons: good luck finding a seat in the shop!
The Bottom Line: I recommend having Tea and Sympathy delivered the next time you're having lunch at the office or hanging out at a friend's.

Tea and Sympathy are a gem of the West Village. Sadly, I have never gotten to sit down at Tea and Sympathy, it has been full the few times I've passed by.
Not to worry: They deliver!!
I used to work at a firm near Penn Station that was staffed entirely by British people. Real, actual British people, who depended upon Tea and Sympathy for half of their nutrition while in the states. I would call up, place my order with an amusingly cocky Cockney, and at lunchtime we would promptly be presented with heaping mounds of absolutely perfect, thick, steaming real scones along with jams of our choice and real clotted cream.
The Brits went on gobbling down cucumber sandwiches and Shepherd's pie, and raving the whole time about how it was "Just Loik Bein' Back a'home!"
Not only did Tea and Sympathy deliver us fresh, excellent British food, they redeemed me in the eyes of my co-workers.
Tea and Sympathy deliver for free between the West Side Highway and 5th Avenue, and between 33rd Street and Canal St. They deliver outside this area, but charge a modest fee. If you're having a special occasion, you can also have them arrive with the goods in a genuine London Cab!

Notes, Tips or Menu Recommendations If you ever want to get a seat inside, you might try calling them to ask when they''re usually not busy - if there is such a time. And definitely try the Scones and Clotted Cream. It''s my favorite!
