jo.com's Full Review: Teeter Hang Ups F5000 Inversion Table
A couple of months ago I started a review on another Inversion Table by Yukon which I will finish one of these days. In the meantime several weeks ago a friend of mine told me she bought the Teeter Hang Ups F5000 Inversion Table. Note that at over $300 this table is more than $100 more than that made by Yukon.
What is this and what do you get?
In a nutshell an inversion tables purpose is to help relieve back pain by reducing pressure on you spine. It also is supposed to relieve stress and increase circulation.
This Teeter Hang Ups comes with a 14 minute video which I recommend you watch and a book about inversion called, Teeter Hang Ups Better Back Better Body Book.
You get a piece of equipment that weighs 62 pounds and measures 45 inches x 28 inches x 58 inches. The Teeter Hang Ups is manually controlled. I say that because I have seen inversion tables that work electronically. The way the Teeter works is by shifting your arms. The weight of your moving arms rotates the table to various angles.
The maximum weight of the user should be no more than 300 pounds which I think is a generous amount. Truly I cannot imagine anyone weighing that much unless the person is tall or much of that weight is muscle using any inversion table. That is just my opinion.
Teeter Hang Ups have auto locking hinges. What these do is lock the cot type bed to the frame of the table. The mat that you lie on is made of nylon and is washable. The frame is made of carbon steel and chrome.
Teeter Hang Ups folds up nicely and easily so you can really store this in a closet or a corner and at 62 pounds it can be moved easily for most people. There is some assembly. I have never assembled one but was told that is comes mostly assembled and there are just a few pieces that are put on easily.
Lets hang up
I was not surprised when I saw the Teeter Hang Ups since I was familiar with one made by Yukon. The fact that hanging upside down or that you will look just plain weird to some was not news to me.
I like the handles on the Teeter. I think it is so important on a piece of equipment like this to have handles in order to be able to get on and off safely. The handles are rubber coated and comfortable to hold but we will not be holding them except to get on the mattress.
Before we even get on the Hang Ups, we are going to adjust a strap that is at the back of the machine. Since you are new at this I am going to set the strap so you cannot invert to 90 degrees. The Hang Ups allows you to hang totally upside down but I would not recommend it until you are comfortable with the table. I have never liked amusement rides so it took me many times on these machines to feel very comfortable. There are also adjustable roller hinges. Before we even get on the table we can select one of 3 levels of how fast we want to rotate. We are going to pick the slowest and easiest.
Now we get on the Hang Ups. We do this by standing on a platform while the machine is straight up. The first time I used the Yukon machine I was nervous so you may be as well but you will be fine.
There are two rollers at the base of the machine. We will put our feet behind the rollers, pull out a pin and slip are heels into what I can describe as metal cups that look like (for women only) stirrups we so gladly put our feet in at the gynecologists office! Once in place we slide the rollers back, put the pin in and we are secure. I promise.
We are then going to lift an arm and the table will move. It moves quietly and smoothly. This is a nice machine. I think it is really well made. The parts seem durable and strong.
It has a 5 year warranty and it can be returned within 30 days if you do not like it.
What I think:
I really like inversion tables. Teeters is a really well made one. I really like the way I feel after Ive been on it. I seem to never be able to stretch enough. I also seem to never be able to relax enough. I have found that after using the Hang Ups I feel relaxed, my spine feels wonderful and I glow. (Ok so maybe it is just the blood rushing to my face but thats the point!) I have seen an improvement in my aches and pains. I have not bought a table myself since I use my friends but I just might so my husband can use it as well. He has commented that after I work out if I go to her house to use the Hang Ups, I do not complain about soreness the next day the way I used to.
If you are someone who loves to stretch, if you go to the gym and hang onto the chin up bar to stretch your body, if you are someone with back pain or circulation problems I would highly recommend the Hang Ups by Teeter.
As always consult your doctor before starting an exercise program. With an inversion table special precautions need to be taken. If you have heart or blood pressure problems or any medical condition please do not even get on the Hang Ups without talking to your doctor first.
Please feel free to leave me a comment or question.
