Pros: Talented pooch learns tricks faster than a REAL dog and doesn't mess the carpet.
Cons: Although he doesn't eat Kibbles, this dog munches a fortune in batteries.
The Bottom Line: Although not my first choice in electronic toys, my daughter enjoys Tekno. That counts for something! He eats lots of batteries fast.

| ValerieG's Full Review: Tekno the Electronic Robot Puppy |
Tekno is a cute little silver colored electronic dog. He has bright, flashing eyes, ears that move up and down on command, and an electronically wagging tail. Tekno has the ability to learn and follow commands, and responds favorably to strategically place pats of affection.
Emily HAD to have a Tekno for Christmas last year. When we went to her grandparents' house for Christmas dinner, two of her cousins had Tekno, and the dogs were playing together. This was even better than Furby!
Unfortunately, Santa didn't give Emily a Tekno, but Mom and Dad got a Tekno for Emily's birthday on December 26. This child was the happiest kid on the planet. Until we put in the batteries. Nothing. No flashing eyes, no electronic bark...just one terribly disappointed little girl.
A week later, with a new and improved replacement Tekno, the fun began. By the end of the night, Emily had her new pet barking, coming to her when called, and even beginning to learn magic tricks! This was her best friend. Tekno went everywhere with us for several weeks, until his batteries wore down.
Then Tekno was shelved for several months.
This weekend, Emily has "rediscovered" her long lost pet. With a new set of batteries, and renewed interest from his owner, Tekno is now a major part of our lives again. He is learning new tricks, and walking and barking all over the house (sometimes I swear he's intentionally chasing the kitten).
While Tekno is certainly no replacement for a ball of fur pet, he definitely gives a child a sense of ownership. If Mom and Dad can put up with the strange electronic barking, and the almost hypnotic eyes, he's actually a lot of fun.
