I LOVE this thing!
I received my Water pik as a gift (because I had been complaining about gum soreness) and it has made all the difference in the world. Although my teeth are generally healthy, I had developed "pockets" in my gums where food would collect. Dental floss can only get some of it. Since using the Water pik, I am able to make sure my gums are clean, preventing and alleviating soreness, and keeping them healthy.
There is a dial with which you can control the speed and intensity of the water stream into your mouth. I start off slow, then crank it to high to make sure I use it to its fullest.
I have had this product for several years, and have not experienced even one problem.
This is a great product for anyone who experiences occasional gum soreness, or for anyone wanting to prevent gum soreness. Adding a few minutes extra time to use the Water pik is time, and money, well spent.
