| pdcshotgun's Full Review: Tempur-Pedic Adjustable Sleep System |
What we have: Split California King Adjustable (two bases, two mattresses) with comfort pillow(s).
Okay, so we had a waterbed for years, mainly because I kick my foot in my sleep. Can't do springs, no matter if they are individually coiled or not. So even though he wanted it when it was just on the market and about $3,000 cheaper, we went with the waterbed instead. 7 years later, I got smart and let him have his foam mattress. Mainly because I could no longer sleep flat as I got heartburn. I would roll off my pillows, etc.
We paid about $5,000 for the whole set up but only got one pillow. Turns out we needed two because I keep stealing his pillow. This did require a whole new bedroom set, so total we spent about $10,000. AND IT'S WORTH IT.
A word about sheets. For a split bed, separate bottom sheets are essential. For the kings, forget about finding them in stores. Instead, check out tallpaulstallmall.com. Expensive but worth it. Fit perfectly. We have tight fit corners, but you don't need it these sheets fit so well. We also have wings which are essential in my opinion. We also got the bed skirt which we had a cut a slit in to fit over the bar at the bottom. If you have a full bed frame and not just a headboard skip the bedskirt. They even made us a duvet cover to match!
Night one: I was suprised by how comfortable it was. I woke up with none of the stiffness. I didn't even stretch. I just felt great.
Night two: Still feeling great, but lost the remote. Woops, ended up sleeping on it.
Night three: cats found his remote and raised his feet in the middle of the night. His remote now hidden as he likes to sleep flat.
Night four: still losing my remote.
Night twenty: Still losing the remote darnit. But I made a remote bag and that's a little better.
Day 21. New Bedframe finally arrived. Headboard, footboard and rails were installed. The ned now sits "free" inside the frame. It is not attached in any way. Thought this would make making the bed more difficult getting the two bottom fitted sheets on. Boy was I wrong! Simple move one side into FULLY UP POSITION. Put on four corners and hit the flat button. Bed literally makes itself. Looks beautifully tight and snug. Do the same for the other side. In the fully up position, you can step between the footboard and mattress for an easier reach.
This bed hqas become my new couch. I will sit upright watching tv or reading. I will recline into zero g position for thr greatest sleep I've ever had.
Now for the bad. If you're hot in your convential bed, you're going to be warmer now. This bed holds heat. I have woken up uncomfortable warm a couple nights. Found I don't sleep in flannel anymore. A lighter blanket or cover seems to help with this problem. And of course the remote issue. They aren't attached so they tend to "float around" I find that I do adjust my bed a bit as I roll onto my side or back to my back, so the remote being MIA in the middle of night isn't good. Sex. Yup, that magic word. Beware the split in the middle of the bed. Don't get too energetic on top of the split, make sure you're to one side or the other if you get my drift.
