Pros: Can't find much good to say - fits regular bed.
Cons: No back support, hard to turn over, way over-priced. Feel like sleeping on padded floor.
Last year we purchased a second home and purchased a king size Tempurpedic mattress. We have a Select Comfort sleep number bed in our main home and weren't sure we "loved" the mattress. Unfortunately we were only able to sleep on the new mattress for a few weeks and didn't take full advantage of the "guarantee" period. My back hurt from the first time I slept on it but my husband thought it was comfortable - so we kept the bed.
I found the bed very hard to get comfortable - the salesmen said the foam responds after 10 minutes in one position. I guess my body want comfort sooner than that. I also found the bed made turning very difficult.
Now, after using it for a year -- we BOTH hate it. We wake up with extreme backaches. I thought it might be due to our weight (we are both overweight) but recently my niece and her husband, who are lean and healthy, used the bed and both woke with backaches. Then my sister and her husband used it and had the same comment -- they found the couch MUCH more comfortable. How sad.
We have tried the Tempurpedic in every manner possible. The salesmen recommended not using a bed sheet as the foam responds to your body heat -- tried that, didn't work -- besided mattress cover felt hot. Mattress sits on board --felt no more support. We used on a regular box spring - although not recommend and effects warranty, we tried this as our neighbor uses hers this way and she's been happy for 8 years. Didn't work.
When we returned to our SelectComfort bed we knew that the sleep number is "our" bed of choice.
