Pros:The service was prompt. Rhapsody Tempurpedic mattress was well constructed. The price is standard.
Cons:Mattress arrived very stiff. Requires 2 weeks for break-in. The smell was overpowering.
The Bottom Line: Tempurpedic Rhapsody is a mattress for some, just not us. Requires break-in. Smell was overpowering. Free trial is not free. Beware of restocking fee with free 30 day trial.
We recently purchased a Rhapsody Tempurpedic king mattress that came with a free 30 day trial. We liked the initial feel of the bed and it was much better than our previous mattress. The Tempurpedic Rhapsody mattress arrived very stiff. The manufacturer rep said we needed to walk on it or otherwise break in the mattress. A heating pad was also recommended. They said it would require at least 2 weeks for the mattress to break-in. We gave it a 3.5 week trial. Thus, when purchasing a Tempurpedic, make sure you know the break-in requirements. The smell was overpowering. We became congested and developed typical allergic symptoms. The smell never left the mattress over the entire 3.5 week trial period. We did all the manufacturer and retailer recommended but we came to the conclusion we are one of the 20% that do not adapt to the Tempurpedic mattress. We contacted the retailer and they agreed to honor the 30 day free trial warranty. However, we were charged 10% restocking fee ($350). We were also charged for the "free" pillows which we would not have purchased but now could not return. This means the "free 30 day trial" cost us over $500 which we paid (evidence of how much we did not want to keep the mattress). The mattress is of good quality and works for many other people, just not us. However, BEWARE of the free trial offer if you want to return the mattress.
