Cons: Expensive, but you get what you pay for, encourages me to go back to sleep
The Bottom Line: I wish I had made this investment when I was working construction 6 days a week.

Best night’s sleep I’ve ever had. It is a truly wonderful material. Anyone in the market for a mattress must try it.
My wife and I have had ours for nine months. After the initial two-week adjustment period we decided never to part with our new sleep system.
Our original firm, King Size, combination spring/foam mattress and box spring was not cheap. It was warranted for 15 years and wore exceptionally well for seven years until the day we replaced it.
After our third child, my wife’s back did not return to “normal”. She would wake me in the middle of the night in tears, unable to roll over in bed. We bought extra pillows, pads, inserted plywood, 2x3s & 2x4s between the mattress and box-spring in an attempt to help her back. I did not want to spend the money for Tempur-Pedic materials. When nothing worked to help her back, I bought the Tempur-Pedic system.
My wife now sleeps through the entire night. It did not heal her back, it just provides great support to assist her in obtaining a good night's sleep. The material forms/molds to the body like a parent holding an infant child. In the morning I am still amazed that I have no lower back stiffness. I still wake expecting to stretch my back slowly. The absence of the tight lower back is more noticeable than the stiffness was.
Our mattress is on a wooden foundation that we also purchased. It looks just like a box-spring. Our mattress comes with a 20-year warranty. It does not get flipped or rotated…ever. While the material feels hard to the touch in an air-conditioned room and soft in a warm room, it responds to my body similarly across the experienced range of temperatures (70 F – 90 F). We used ours on the floor in December while we had a change order in for a split Queen foundation after the regular foundation would not fit up the stairs. We are using it now in August, with and without air-conditioning.
I thoroughly researched the material, including customer satisfaction, prior to buying it. I have found the following information and common opinions concurring with my own opinions.
The price ranges between ~$1,000 and $1,700 for the mattress. It is designed for use with a platform type foundation (floor, waterbed frame, futon style). A platform foundation may be purchased with the mattress for ~$150 to $300.
The shipping fee anywhere in the United States at the time of this purchase is $125. And is non-refundable. The price for the Tempur-Pedic is the same if purchased from the company or from Brookstone. There is no commission or referral reward at Brookstone. They offer a 90 day full money back guarantee on these products. There is no charge for returning the material. This is a real “to your credit card” refund and not a store credit. There are two types of delivery, express service (10 days) and full service (30 days). The cost is the same. New mattresses smell like the plastic in which they are wrapped. This goes away by itself in a couple of weeks or less.
PRIMARY RECOMMENDATION(s)
Buy your system through Brookstone. Their retail staff is very experienced with the material and the logistics and supply chain. Ask for the full service delivery. Indicate in the delivery specification that you want old bedding removed. You can always change your mind at no additional cost. Years of experience allow them to pick up the telephone and speak directly with the “goto” person at the warehouse, shipping, or corporate level. A customer’s one (1) phone call to any store manager can put the manager on the phone tracking an order for half a day. I have been thrilled with my purchase at the store. The catalog, internet and retail sales have different response times to customer concerns. Buy from the retail store either in person or on the telephone. Post Script: My wife and I have been using this mattress for well over a year. It is still wonderful. We looked at or tested almost every mattress we passed for a long time before buying Tempur-Pedic. Comparison of positive parameters results in Tempur-Pedic winning hands down.
