Pros: pretty comfortable
Cons: too hot, too firm
I have been sleeping on the tempurpedic classic for three weeks. I returned it to the store I bought it from today in exchange for the Sealy PosturePedic TrueForm foam mattress. The Sealy felt better in the store but runs about $600 more than the tempurpedic. The tempurpedic is nice and I slept well for the most part, but more often than note I would wake up in the middle of the night with a sweaty hot feel around me. Almost like having night sweats when you have a fever, but not as bad. Still, I can't imagine how sweaty and hot it would be if I was sharing my bed with someone else.
The Sealy feels much cooler to the touch and isn't supposed to have the same issue. I sleep with my AC turned down to about 72 at night and only one blanket with a thin comforter. If you like waking up in a pool of sweat, get a tempurpedic classic. The sales guy said the newer and more expensive models don't have the same heat issue, but I can't drop $5,000 on those, especially when the Sealy felt so much better and cooler in the store.
The smell that comes with a new tempurpedic went away after a few days and didn't really bother me.
The only other complaint I had was the mattress was too firm for my tastes. It doesn't have the plush feel you might expect from a memory foam mattress.
But the sweat was a deal breaker for me.
