I think of that song too. Yes, I'm glad I stayed with the novel. Thanks...

Tender Is The Night. Whenever I see the title of that novel, I immediately have the Jackson Browne song of the same name running through my head.

I agree with your overall asessment of the novel, it does take one a while to get into it. But once they do, they find it rewarding. Not up there with the Great Gatsby. But still very good.

Good review.

Dr. Freudine. Usually I skip her, but in my own writeoff, I felt obligated to venture in, and on a second reading reluctantly rated.

I think F. Scott would have gotten off on it himself.

Yes, I mentioned that in the review, though not by her name. Sure it's deep, but hopefully it sounds interesting. I tried to entertain too!

Very Interesting (Reply to this comment)

Dr. Freudine is going after some deep subjects here. Personally I think Fitzgerald's female characters were influenced by his mistress/wife
Zelda - and their rocky relationship.

Never could develop a taste for Fitzgerald myself, but I think I need to revisit him. The older I get the more I appreciate things I didn't before. If that makes sense. Maybe I need a session with the good doctor myself!

Cheers!
