| carennedy's Full Review: Marian Borden Edelman - The Baffled Parents Guide ... |
Sibling Rivalry by Marian Eleman Borden is part of the Baffled Parent's Guide series. The book is easy to read with lots of the information in point form. I love point form because it gets right to point.
She looks at both sides of an issue surrounding sibling rivalry and offers practical advice in a concise manner. She doesn't draw out examples to try to make her point, each point is made very clearly. There are no idealized situations provided as examples.
She covers a variety of issues and organizes them in the book so you can find what you need to know easily. The chapters are short but packed full of information. Each chapter is Further divided by subtitles and each subtitle is then divided by headings again. Her topics range from the new baby to merged families, from chores and responsibilities to fair gift buying. Whether you want to know about birth order or the dynamics of gender on sibling relationships its all inside this book.
If you like interesting facts and great quotes she's added those in the margins. If it's a quote she has an image of a stick of dynamite, if its a fact it's marked by a question mark image. She's pointed out trouble areas for siblings in the margins with a caution sign and great ideas for their relationship with a light bulb. All these margin notes are placed in the book with subject content they apply to.
This book is a great resource for any family. If you feel after reading this book you need more information, Ms. Edelman Borden has gratuitously added a resources section. This section provided websites, books, and organizations where you can find more information. I recommend this book for your home resource library.
