DeniseNC's Full Review: Gary Regan - The Bartender's Bible: 1001 Mixed Dri...
This is a must have book if you do any entertaining where alcohol is involved. I am not a heavy drinker by any means. I do like to have a social drink occasionally. My "little" brother bought this book for my birthday several years ago.
This is a well written book with up to date recipes for almost any mixed drink imaginable. Even the old favorites are included.
There is a section that tells how to set up for the perfect bar, and tells you everything you need to make it a success. All drinks are listed in alphabetical order under the heading of the major ingredient. There is an index in the back of the book you can use if you know the name of the drink. There is even a section on glassware. I guess the perfect drink has to have the perfect glass.
Each sections tells you a little about each type of liquor. It tells you where it came from and who developed it. There are comical stories mixed in as well. If you ever had to do any research on liquor, this book would be a great place to start.
There is a section on hot drinks and non alcoholic drinks also.
The author Gary Regan did a good job doing research to put this book together. This would probably not be the ideal book to curl up with, but it did make for some fun reading.
If you ever know someone who wants a "Waking To The Call Of The Mockingbird", you will be able to impress them if you have The Bartenders Bible.
Friends and I have sat around laughing at the wild names of some of these drinks. We have even tried a few.
