The Bear Pit is one of the San Fernando Valley's oldest Bar-B-Cue Joints. For over 30 years they have been serving up some of the best in the west. Go there any day and have the Turkey Sandwich. It comes with choice of beans and cold slaw, with pickles and carrot sticks and celery. You should order a side of their small roasted potato's if you got some room. The sauce is outstanding and you can take a bottle or 2 home with you. The service is a little slow and if you go on Sunday, expect a wait for a table. They have sawdust on the floor and wooden picknic tables to sit on. Not very comfortable but the food is too good to pass up if you are in the area. In my opinion the ribs are just so-so, and the ham is very good also. This is a moderate priced bar-b-cue restaurant so bring the kids and be a sport and pick up the check. This is very close to the freeway, so it is no problem getting there. Our family stops here for lunch every time we go to the San Fernando Valley. You will want to come back time and time again once you try the food. I am very glad to recommend the Bear Pit to all of you.
