I enjoy Blue Nile as it has yummy food -- that you eat with your hands. It is a wonderful relaxing experience.
All dishes are eaten with Injera - their Ethiopian bread. It is a somewhat Americanized at this restaurant as it does contain some wheat rather than be made of 100% Tiff grain. It is a stretchy bread that is fun. The meat dishes are also all boneless, which I appreciate. (Many slightly more "authentic" restaurants keep the bones in which is much harder to eat.) My favorite dishes are #3 the mild lamb and the standard vegetables (potatoes, carrots and green beans) that come with every order. Usually I go with my husband and a friend and we order a family style dinner with #1, #3 and #5 and an extra order of vegetables. The dishes come with salad, rice and the yummy vegetables.
I have eaten their vegetarian sampler platter and liked 2 of the 4 dishes. It was very interesting -- but I will stick with the meat choices. However, I know many vegetarians who love them all.
It is not a place to go to read (it is too dimly lit). However, I did watch some people play a game while waiting for their order (the service is the relaxed African pace). The place is quite clean -- just wash your hands before eating. When done, they give you a wet-nap to clean off your hands. This is not a fancy place (no table cloths, the "plates" are a piece of paper). Yet, it is tasty food at very inexpensive prices. On Saturday, 4 of us ate for $46 + tip including drinks for some and the extra vegetables. There was plenty of food to spare.
