The Body Shop's Almond Oil Conditiong Handwash Works Well, but Needs a Scent Overhaul!

Pros: Supports community trading, moisturized much better than drying hand soap.
Cons: Unpleasant smell, expensive.
The Bottom Line: The results are much better than traditional hand soap. I just wish the scent was more pleasant.

My search for beauty products seems never-ending at times, and my hands in particular are prone to needing care. At this time of year, I find myself desperate to keep them softened so they don't crack and split. My friend and Body Shop consultant recommended that I give their Almond Oil Conditioning Hand Wash a try in place of the usual bathroom hand soap. It features a trio of key ingredients (almond oil, honey and glycerin) that sounded promising for both moisturizing and a pleasant scent. Overall, it succeeded on one account.
My Experience
The Almond Oil Conditioning Hand Soap comes in a container with a flip-top dispenser, and although I prefer a pump, I was happy that it came out of the bottle easily enough. The product is actually a very thick soap, much more so, than what I usually use at the bathroom sinks. It is creamy and more the texture of a lotion. It is very thick going on, and a little goes a long way. It is quite sticky and has no lather to note. It just feels much more like a heavy hand cream than a soap. When rinsing off the product, it does finally bubble like a soap. It's all a bit odd. The smell is also rather off-putting. It has a hint of almond, but no honey that I can discern. If you follow the use of this with a hand lotion, it is tolerable, but it really doesn't smell too good otherwise.
The Results
I must say that the Almond Oil Conditioning Hand Wash does make my hands very smooth and soft after applying. I have found an overall improvement after switching this in my bathroom and using it instead of the usual anti-bacterial handwash. I really just wish the scent was more pleasant!

I purchased my container from my local consultant for $12.00 for a good sized 8.4 ounce bottle. As I mentioned earlier, a little does go a long way in use. Aside from purchasing via a consultant, this (and all) Body Shop products can be purchased at their brick and mortar stores, as well as on their website.
Of Note
The Body Shop prides itself on procuring ingredients from eco-friendly markets and by encouraging small farming practices. This product feature community trade honey. (information to follow).
