| Javelina's Full Review: The Body Shop Exfoliating Skin Towel Pink |
I was on a mission to buy exfoliating gloves at the Body Shop. Of course, you buy the gloves with a towel, and you get a package deal. So I added a towel to my purchase, which normally costs $5.00. However, they were even cheaper as a set, which is sold at a discount.
The towel measures approximately 34 x 11.
I had several colors to choose from:
- white
- silver
- natural
- orange
- yellow
- green
I also saw cranberry color gloves and towels, which seems to correspond to their seasonal cranberry items and is likely only available around the Christmas holidays.
There is a tag on one corner that reads Made in China, 100% Nylon. It also instructs you to hand wash and hang to dry.
My Thoughts & Experiences
So, I started with the Body Shop gloves and ended up getting the towel to go with it. I was buying the set for my husband and wasnt sure what he would like most. The price was very reasonable, I was happy to get both items. Since then, I have bought my own set - I couldn't resist, and I love my exfoliating towel!
Once unfolded, the towel is actually pretty big. I usually keep it folded up about the size of a washcloth, apply soap, and scrub away. However, it is certainly long enough that you can unfold it and use it on your back. The material seems to soften a bit when it is wet.
The Body Shop towel is really great for exfoliation. The nylon is fairly rough, but I dont find it to be too harsh. The gloves are sort of odd to use because the fabric rubs on your palms, whereas with the towel, I can hold it like a pouf or washcloth. I actually feel like I get more leverage with the towel.
Use two to three times a week for maximum effect. Regular exfoliating and massaging can help tone and firm the skin.
This towel does a wonderful job. I always like to make sure I exfoliate, especially in the winter with dry skin. I tend to sit at my desk all day with a heater by my feet, which dries out my legs. I love to give them a scrub with the towel, shave, and apply lotion. Scrubbing with the towel helps prevent a build up of dry skin.
I also like to use some self-tanner in the winter, especially this year after coming back from my honeymoon in Mexico (to retain some of my tan). It is always recommended to exfoliate first, which is a perfect job for the towel. In general, I use this towel just about on a daily basis, and I notice that it keeps my skin smoother and healthier. I can also tell that my husbands skin looks and feels improved as well.
For extra exfoliation, use with a scrub from The Body Shop Bath & Body range.
I bought some Coconut Body Scrub and ended up really not liking it. Way too waxy, not enough scrubbing power. I am totally satisfied with the performance of the towel and gloves, so my dislike for the body scrub is really no loss. I really feel that the towel or gloves alone are sufficient for exfoliation, and I dont think that additional products are needed, Body Shop or not.
"Rinse after use and hang to dry." "You'll love how these exfoliating skin towels are fast drying, too."
Once I am done, I hang this towel in the shower. It certainly does dry very quickly, since it is just a meshy nylon material. The tag says to hand wash only. I have washed the gloves in the washing machine with no problem, so Im not sure if Ill actually pay attention to the tag when it comes to this item. Since it dries quickly, I am not particularly worried about mold. If there comes a time when it starts looking gross, Ill take the risk of throwing it in the washing machine, and if it somehow is ruined, it is cheap enough that I have no problem buying a new one.
Overall
I personally actually like the towel even more than the gloves, which I give 5 stars! The towel is very versatile and does an excellent job of exfoliating. It is cheap, dries quickly, and my skin is looking and feeling good. Forget the sad little washcloths I only use this now!
