Pros:Very rich, hydrating, great scent, long lasting moisture, concentrated, fair trade ingredients
Cons:A bit greasy, takes a while to absorb, contains parabens and artificial fragrance
The Bottom Line: The Body Shop Mango Body Butter is an old favorite that has stood the test of time. I use it year round for super hydration and great scent.
I have been using The Body Shop Mango Body Butter for years. In fact, it is the very first body butter that The Body Shop ever sold back in 1992. I have been using it since a few years after that! I love the scent and the super amped up hydration I get from it. I could do without the artificial color and some other chemicals but this body butter is very effective even on my very dry skin.

About the Product
Our super-rich and creamy Body Butter is a feast for the skin. It melts straight in to leave skin feeling soft and smooth. It contains Community Fair Trade cocoa butter and has an exotic mango scent.
This body butter comes in a squat orange plastic container with a screw off lid. The lid features a mango as one would expect. This body butter is best for very dry skin. It is a pale orange color and very rich and thick. I could turn the container over and shake it and the product wouldn't drop out easily at all. There are a few sizes of this body butter: a mini 1.7 ounce size, a regular 6.9 ounce size, and a jumbo 13.5 ounce size. I generally buy the 6.9 ounce tubs but the larger ones are on sale and I just picked up a Satsuma and a Mango for the same price as the regular sized tubs. The scent of this body butter is tropical and fruity. It smells like fresh mangoes but stronger. The consistency is thick and a bit greasy.
I love many of the scents of body butters that The Body Shop offers but I think Mango and Satsuma are two of my favorites. That is subject change though on a whim.
The Body Shop Mango Body Butter is made especially for very dry skin. They have formulas for normal and dry skin as well. I have dry to very dry skin depending on the season and I love thick, rich creams and butters so this one really fits the bill.
The butter is so rich that I have to warm it up a bit so it will spread easily on my skin. It doesn't immediately absorb so I just let it take its time and do its job. The scent is heavenly. It's so tropical and fruity and doesn't smell like chemicals or like plastic like some scented body products do. This one is fresh and juicy.
I usually apply this body butter after a shower at night. It leaves my skin a bit tacky for a while so I will wait to get dressed in my sleep clothes or just wear loose clothing. I haven't seen any staining on my clothes or bed sheets so, although it is somewhat oily, it doesn't leave behind oil marks.
Once the body butter absorbs, my skin is very soft. My legs look almost luminescent and feel super smooth. The hydration lasts for hours and the scent, while not as strong as when I first apply it, lingers on my body for quite a while. It isn't so strong that it interferes with my perfumes but I generally like to use a similarly scented body spray when I use this body butter because I love the scent.
The Body Shop uses community fair trade cocoa butter in its body butters, the profits of which go to impoverished countries. I like that.
I don't use The Body Shop Mango Body Butter as often in the summer because my skin needs less hydration than in the winter but I do pull out my tub and use it weekly to keep my skin well hydrated all year long. In the winter, I use it more often and keeps my skin super hydrated. My only complaint is that it does take a while to absorb and leaves my skin a bit tacky for a while so I really can't use it then get dressed and go. I have to use it at night but the hydration is there when I wake up so I only use a light lotion in the morning and I am well hydrated all day long.
If you are wondering what is in this body butter, here are the CURRENT ingredients. They are subject to change at any time so please consult the packaging before purchasing if you have allergies or sensitivities.

The Body Shop Mango Body Butter is sold at The Body Shop online or in their brick and mortar stores. The price varies depending on which size you buy. The smallest size is $6.00. The regular 6.9 ounce size is $19.00 and the jumbo 13.5 ounce tubs (which may be temporary as there are only a few scent choices) are generally $25.00 which is a steal. The super size is on sale so definitely check out the jumbo size of this body butter before buying the regular size. They may be the same price! I paid $19.00 for the jumbo tubs that I ordered which is exactly the same price for half the amount of product. Gotta love that!
The Body Shop Mango Body Butter has been a favorite of mine forever! I think it was actually one of the first, if not the first, body butter I ever tried. I used to use creams and lotions. Body butters are just so much better for hydration for me. I still use many different types of creams and lotions as well as loads of other body butters but this one is one of my clear favorites. I give it 4 stars only because it is so rich that it leaves my skin a bit sticky for a while and doesn't absorb as fast as I would like. But at night, there's nothing better than slathering this on and waking up with super soft skin.
