| agentunderfire's Full Review: The Body Shop Milk Body Lotion |
On a whim I decided to buy The Body Shops Milk Body Lotion, as I have heard milk is actually pretty good for the skin. The clear, 250 mL or 8.4 FL oz. bottle claims with organic milk powder, vitamin E and chamomile. Like many other Body Shop lotions, the lid is a flip top, allowing for easy dispensing.
Actual Usage
After I recently pulled a muscle in my back, I found that standing in hot showers really helped loosen my back muscles in the morning, allowing me to at least start my day. Unfortunately, the hot water combined with the harsh New England winters, my skin just couldnt handle the abuse. I decided to break out the Milk Lotion and let it do its work.
Amazingly, the white lotion soothed and moisturized my skin. It goes on and absorbs smoothly, with no afterfeeling other lotions have. I found my skin to be hardly itchy at all. This was a major plus as I had been experiencing itchiness in bed due to the dorms heat being on ALL NIGHT! I think its the chamomile, as my regular Suave lotion has vitamin e as well. This meant I smell like organic milk (or like babies as my roommate likes to say), which is a heck of a lot better than smelling like hydrocortisone!
The smell is subtle, but noticeable at close range. I had applied this lotion all over my body due to the room heat and the dryness of my skin. As I quietly sat on the bed, my roommate turned her head at me, sniffing wildly and with wide eyes. She stopped and said in an amazed voice, You smell really good! Not exactly a normal conversational thing for her to say, but the lotion has been a big hit amongst my roommates. As we are all smell sensitive, the subtleness of this lotion is a big plus. Although detectable if one is close to the wearer, the scent fades away, leaving the skin still moisturized.
I have not experienced any allergic reaction or clogged pores. As stated above, I believe the chamomile in this lotion has probably soothed my skin
Problems, cons, etc.
Im not a big fan of the scent, (I dont care to smell like milk, although at least its not sour milk), nor of the price (14 dollars), nor the fact that the lotion seems to rather thick, requiring me to stand it upside in order to get it to flow better; but its been certainly worth it to get through the cold and dry New England winter.
Overall
I really like this lotion, and would rather use this than icky hydrocortisone. However, at 14 dollars a bottle, its rather pricey and I will probably keep this product in mind more for winter use.
