| cheekypig's Full Review: The Body Shop Nut Body Butter |
I enjoy walking into the Body Shop and never feel guilty whenever I buy something there; they don't test on animals, support fair trade, suitable for vegetarians...and their products are just top quality to top it all off. So when I saw their body butter testers, I knew I had to sniff them and try them out, and surprisingly enough, I came home with a gorgeous Nut Body Butter in hand. Now I'm addicted to this stuff!
The Product:
All the Body Shop Body Butters come in two sizes; a small 1.7 oz rounded tub, and a larger tub containing 6.9 oz of the body butter. I bought the larger size of this. It can be purchased at any Body Shop stores, their online shopping site, and on eBay to grab bargains!
The Body Shop Nut Body Butter is an off-white, slightly beige colour, that, as the name itself states, is quite thick like butter. But nowhere near as greasy as butter - depending on how much of it you put on: a little goes a long way!
It contains a few community traded ingredients, such as Brazil nut oil, cocoa butter and shea butter which are all highly moisturising and natural skin softening ingredients.
This particular nut 'flavour' is specially designed for dry skin. Their other body butters; eg. mango, coconut, shea & cocoa butter, are more formulated to drier skin types, where as the olive, satsuma, strawberry & papaya are better suited to normal skin types.
And did I mention that the smell is so beautiful! I never expected a 'nut' scent to be all that great, but this is just wonderful! It's a sort of creamy, vanilla scent with a hint of nut in it. Someone also told me I smelt like chocolates! Yum! But one word for the scent: amazing!!
Ingredients:
Water (Solvent/Diluent), Brazil (Bertholletia Excelsa) Nut Oil (Emollient), Cyclomethicone (Emollient), Cocoa (Theobroma Cacao) Butter (Emollient), Shea Butter (Butyrospermum Parkii) (Emollient), Glycerin (Humectant), Glyceryl Stearate (Emulsifier), PEG-100 Stearate (Surfactant), Cetearyl Alcohol (Emulsifier), Lanolin Alcohol (Stabiliser/Emollient), Phenoxyethanol (Preservative), Methylparaben (Preservative), Propylparaben (Preservative), Xanthan Gum (Viscosity Modifier), Fragrance (Fragrance), Benzyl Alcohol (Preservative), Disodium EDTA (Chelating Agent), Caramel (Colour).
My Experience:
My skin type is actually leaning more towards normal, but it is usually on the dry / tight side. I also couldn't resist the beautiful aroma that wafts out immediately (without being overpowering) once the dark brown lid is screwed off.
I really enjoy smoothing on this creamy body butter, especially after getting out of a bath or shower while my skin is still slightly damp. I feel it locks in the moisture and keeps moisture in my skin, making it feel really soft. I also like to smooth some on whenever I feel really dry and it relieves the uncomfortable tightness and keeps skin silky smooth all day.
And, after massaging in some of this butter, you're left with a gorgeous sheen to boot. It never looks oily or greasy when you put on a small layer - like stated before, a little goes a long way - instead, you're just left with a nice glow to your skin. It absorbs very nicely into skin without leaving an uncomfortable, oily/greasy film on skin. It sinks in quickly, leaving your skin soft, smooth and silky all day with a divine smell and a gorgeous sheen.
The smell lasts for a fair while, so I'd advise you not to wear any floral-type fragrance once you've smoothed this on, as it will probably mix and not smell too great.
Even though this body butter is quite expensive (especially on my tight budget), a little goes a long way, meaning it should last quite a while. I'm only just running out of my Nut Body Butter and I've used it nearly every day for at least three months.
Overall, this is just a wonderful moisturiser that leaves skin soft, healthy and smooth, leaving it radiant with a yummy smell...and 100% guilty free!
And I'm just addicted to this stuff and will probably be forking out some more cash to repurchase more of The Body Shop Body Butter(s); probably in other flavours! Right now I really want to try out their holiday butters; the Cranberry and new Rich Plum!
Thanks for reading! :P
Have a nice day.
