| bops_mom's Full Review: The Body Shop Raspberry Body Butter |
Back in February of 2009 I was at my local mall and walked into The Body Shop store. I was happy to find they had released a new scent for Valentine’s Day – Raspberry. Deciding to treat myself I walked away from there with both the raspberry shower gel and raspberry body butter. Product Information The Body Shop’s Raspberry Body Butter is packaged in a berry colored tub with screw on/off lid. The plastic container holds 7.0 ounces and cost me around $20. The product itself is a light pink in color. The scent is to die for. It is a true raspberry scent; it’s pretty much identical to the smell of raspberry jam. It’s delicious! Nothing fake about it. My Experience My skin tends to be dry year round. In the winter it is drier than the other seasons as it usual for most people. With my dry skin I have tried The Body Shop’s Body Butter’s that are meant for dry skin and they are simply amazing. The Body Shop’s Raspberry Body Butter is touted as being for “normal skin”. When I purchased it, I didn’t even look to see who they were marketing this to as I didn’t care. I wanted it for the scent so I could layer it with the shower gel. That said, I’ve found The Body Shop’s Raspberry Body Butter to be rather hydrating for something made for “normal skin”. It really takes very little product to hydrating my body – my favorite spots for application are my arms as it helps with my dry hands and elbows. My skin is left feeling very soft and smooth and I can't ask for more than that! I will say as wonderful as this product has been for me during the spring and summer months I don’t think it would be quite enough for winter. The Body Shop’s Raspberry Body Butter is much lighter to the feel than say, their Shea Butter Body Butter. With The Body Shop’s Raspberry Body Butter you don’t have to rub it between your hands to make it easier to apply. It has almost a whipped type of a texture which is rather nice. I’ve found that The Body Shop’s Raspberry Body Butter absorbs into my skin within minutes and the lovely, sweet, fruity scent lasts all day long. I have not received any negative comments about the scent from anyone. In fact I get many positive comments from my co-workers. One wanted to know what my new perfume was so she could go buy it and another tells me I smell like candy when I wear The Body Shop’s Raspberry Body Butter. Discontinued! This is probably my all time favorite scent ever from The Body Shop. The bad news is, it was a limited edition. Why? I do not for the life of me know. I really think they need to bring it back and make it permanent and as it is amazing. I went back to The Body Shop at the end of May 2009 to purchase The Body Shop’s Raspberry Body Butter and Shower Gel for my co-workers birthday. The sales associate told me they were out and it was discontinued. He then tried to sell me on either the Cherry or Pomegranate saying both were similar to the Raspberry. They are nothing like the Raspberry. The Cherry is tart and sour while the Pomegranate is bitter. Just my take on the scents, mind you – but I don’t think the average person would say they are a good substituted for the Raspberry! And so I love The Body Shop’s Raspberry Body Butter. I’m sad I’m nearing the end of my tub even though I am about to need something stronger since fall and winter are approaching. If you enjoy the scent of raspberry and can somehow find it, I do highly recommend The Body Shop’s Raspberry Body Butter!
