Let me be clear that my rating has nothing to do with my religious beliefs. It is based purely on the fact that your review strikes me as being an overview of what the book would tell me - which isn't really telling me if this is something I'd want to take the time to read. Explain your opinion.
What are your thoughts on what the book presents? What makes it deserving of a 5/5? Who would enjoy reading this? Though this approach will undoubtedly lead to some controversy, it's better than just some sort of plot summary in my opinion.
Please let me know via email if you make an update, as I'd be rather interested to read a revision of this. Also feel free to email me with any questions you may have.

Kenn makes a very valid point that I happen to agree with. This is by no means an attack on you or this review. Just a little more info how you feel about the book would make it more beneficial to anyone else who reads it.
By the way..You list in your cons that it's not as long as the Bible. Why is that a con?

Ken the last review I did just what you have suggested and I recieved the worst reviews I have ever recieved on any reviews. Then they left comments about why I should not have put my opinion in my review. Go figure. (Isn't that what we are doing here anyway). So far without my opinion in my review the ratings have been quite nice. If things go south for me though I will try again with your suggestions. Thanks again I really appreciate the comments.
Jen. Thanks for your comments as well. As for the length of the book I rather enjoy reading scripture. I find the Book of Mormon very similiar to the New Testament as far as the teachings of Christ go. In someways I believe it to be superior because the concept are easier to understand and grasp for all ages. At the same time I have been reading it for several years and like the Bible it is like reading a new book everytime. I read minimum of 20-30 minutes of scripture everyday or more. In addition to this I read around 5 additional books every month. Some religious and some not. In answer to your question, I appreciate all the scripture I can get, and when I get to the end I always wish that it was longer.
Thanks again.

"Ken the last review I did just what you have suggested and I recieved the worst reviews I have ever recieved on any reviews. Then they left comments about why I should not have put my opinion in my review."
I had initially presumed that your original text must have been seen as derogatory or prejudiced in some way - from your comments, however, it seems that members had found it too 'nice'.
"So far without my opinion in my review the ratings have been quite nice. If things go south for me though I will try again with your suggestions."
I'm not sure if you consider a H rating as 'going south' or not. I wavered between a SH and H here, simply because your review is purely the equivalent of a novel's plot summary - a plot summary, but no analysis. If I were writing a review, I have to say that I would rather be honest and get SH ratings and even some scathing comments, than get H/VH ratings but not speak my mind. I doubt any member told you to not express yourself - I would expect they only spoke their own mind as to what they found objectionable in your review...Naturally, I can't say this with a hundred per cent certainty - I haven't seen the original...
My rating stands at a H. I would like to see you update with analysis - and if you ask me to reread, I can't promise that my rating won't even drop in light of it. An analysis would not be 'additive' - it would change the tone, context and meaning of the review, and the entire piece would have to be reevaluated accordingly...I would, however, respect you for speaking your mind...
All the best - drop me an email if you decide to edit...

I gave you an H rating as well, but for different reasons than have been cited here. Being that this book is considered to be scripture and the equivalent of the New Testament, I'd be interested in knowing what kind of 'features' your edition contains. (You would, of course, have to indicate if you have a specific edition or whether it is the 'standard issue' as it were). Are there maps or other study tools? Does it have a glossary and index at the back? Does it contain any kind of a reference that would help you find passages about particular themes? Are there any cross-references to the Bible?
If you are going to review this as literature, I agree that more of your opinion on the story and themes is necessary. Since you are reviewing this as scripture, I think your opinion on the validity of the contents probably goes without saying. But I do think you might want to consider commenting on some the features that may not be part of the 'story' the book contains.
If you update please email me with the URL and I'll be happy to give this another look.
