Opinion Summary
Blackmail, intrigue, lust and murder--sensational! read all about it!

Pros: it's about the Brontes; points an accusing finger at the intriguing Arthur Bell Nicholls
Cons: superhuman effort required to suspend disbelief; many assertions offensive to most right-minded people

Interesting, yes. But I don't recommend buying a copy, as I feel the author shouldn't profit from slandering the Brontes. But I'd pick it up from the library.

Maddening, oh yes! I read the entire book in a state of righteous indignation. lol

You're absolutely spot on re Jane Austen. Tully would have one of her male relatives dictating Pride and Prejudice to her, I swear. The swine...grrrrr...

I've seen this book and passed on it, worried it would be like you described it here... thanks for the great, confirming review! btw, are you the JC Hall who wrote Lady of the Lakes?

and also maddening, as you said so well. I don't blame you for wanting to chuck the book at the point that you did!

I wonder what the author would make of Jane Austen's career. She wasn't known for having a wide range of experience beyond a rather sheltered homelife. So how on earth could she have produced such masterpieces? ;-0 (Grr!...)
