I bought this album because I have heard so much about this band from people all over the Internet. Mostly from people who have witnessed their amazing live shows.
What I truly love about this record is the constant upbeat vibe, catchy riffs and it's tone of aggressiveness. Music that makes you want to get and bounce. It's not too heavy nor is it too mellow. It is another one of those records you can listen to through and through without having to skip a track. Though it is an overall GREAT album, the lyrics are mediocre. Nothing special really. The lame screams too are quite pathetic. It's really unnecessary in my opinion.
It is difficult to put this band in a category. When I first listened to it, it reminded me of the Incubus' early works of S.C.I.E.N.C.E and Ian Watkins voice is also similar to Brandon Boyd's in several tracks. He sounds really emo too, which is a plus in my books.
My favorite tracks on this record is "The Fake Sound of Progress" - the title track, because it actually has a lot of meaning to it. It relates to the reality of the music industry and false pretenses. "Kobrakai" is so upbeat and catchy.
